New Miss Universe Malaysia Organization Press Conference

Today was the official press conference of the new Miss Universe Malaysia Organization which was held at the Astor Ballroom, St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After the previous National Director Elaine Daly lost the bid for the Miss Universe franchise holder in her country. The new company has taken over the Miss Universe Malaysia Organization. On 8 February 2023, a new Miss Universe Malaysia organization was formed under the same ownership as Miss Universe Indonesia. The license is co-owned by an Indonesian artist, Datin Wira Poppy Capella, which is also the national director of the pageant, and her Malaysian husband Datuk Wira Justin Lim under Just Capella Sdn. Bhd. management while the CEO of Miss Universe Malaysia is a Malaysian businessman, Dato' Westin Chew. The press launch of the pageant was held at St. Regis, Kuala Lumpur on 17 February 2023. The special event were attended by the Miss Universe and Miss Universe Malaysia team, Miss Universe 2022, R'Bonney Gabriel of USA, second runner-up and top 5 of Miss Universe 2022, Andreína Martínez from Dominican Republic and Gabriëla Dos Santos of Curaçao, respectively.

At the same event, Miss Universe owner Miss Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip announced the first ever Miss Universe Private Jet during the Miss Universe Malaysia Press Conference held at the Astor Ballroom, St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This new announcement has received much backlash from fans as the private jet produces more carbon footprint and pollution to the environment compared to commercial planes. It goes against the sustainability advocacy of the Miss Universe organization. As they have been giving emphasis and importance to a sustainable lifestyle with an eco-friendly approach. The focus on a green lifestyle using recycled materials was seen in the new sash of the Miss Universe winner.
